The roads north of Boise are really windy but there is definitely beautiful scenery. Jenny took some pics out her window while I drove.
The driver.
Here we are coming into Hell's Canyon, the deepest canyon in North America (impressive, eh). The picture doesn't really do it justice but the view really is breathtaking. I had forgetten how beautiful it is there.
The happy couple at the trailhead.
Our good friends Bart and Shantyl Stears went with us. We let them blaze the trail most of the way. We were a little worried about rattlesnakes so we let Bart go in front most of the time.
Some amazing scenery from the trail.
Another scenic picture.
Here are Bart and I being gentlemen and pumping water for the ladies.
My gorgeous wife at Michael's Bare-Bottom Bend.
Bart and Shantyl just before the switchbacks.
We can see Kirkwood down below and that means we're almost there. That's why we're smiling.
This is me at the bottom. We made it!
Jenny and Shantyl set up the tents. Nice job.
Bart and I started the fire and prepared dinner: steak and rice with cheesecake for dessert. It was delicious.
Me in front of the Museum.
Jenny by that water pumping thing. Isn't she beautiful?!!
We took these pictures on Saturday just before we started the hike back.
Jenny at the end of the trail. She made it. "V" for Victory!
